Select and edit automation via prompt

Developers can add and edit, either a single or multiple items, in an existing automation by making a selection then sending instructions to Co-Pilot for Automators.

注: Generative AI models can produce errors and/or misrepresent the information they generate. It is advisable to verify the accuracy, reliability, and completeness of the content generated by the AI model.

Accelerate and simplify edits

Co-Pilot for Automators can recognize existing items in the automation canvas and automatically make edits at selected locations that are described in an instructional prompt. Select an item to identify where an additional operation or condition should occur. With the selection made, enter your prompt to quickly add all the necessary items for the change. Using selection and Co-Pilot, developers can target key areas to bring sophistication and robust adaptability to specific business needs with natural language prompts.

Likewise, maintaining properties in an automation becomes faster with the ability to select multiple items and instruct Co-Pilot for Automators to update a property to an entered value. All matching properties of selected items update. Rather than drilling into the properties of each action or task, select all the items with your target property and instruct Co-Pilot for Automators to make the update. Co-Pilot processes your prompt in the context of the selected location and items.

Best practices

Select a single location where you want to add.
When adding to an automation, ensure only one item is selected to specify a single location where changes should occur. If no selection exists, changes will occur after the last item of the automation.
Properties are updated for all items you select.
Updating via prompt is best used across multiple items, simultaneously. You can select a single item, though updating a property across multiple selected items is most effective. Hold shift when selecting all your target items, then enter your instructions and send the prompt.
Help text displays selection.
When you select an item, the number of items you select is displayed under the Co-Pilot dialog box. Use this help text to assist your decision when selecting items across a large volume of actions.
The following table describes the various options to specify the location of changes made when entering your prompt.
Selection Add item Update property
None Add after the last line. System message notes the new line position. Updates all actions matching the prompt. System message notes all line numbers updated. If none match, system message instructs user to select one or more lines.
Single Add after the selected line. System message notes the new line position. The system updates the properties of the selected line and notes the success.
Multiple None added, system message notes only one selection is needed for adding actions. The system updates properties of all selected lines and notes the lines updated.
