Automatically update the Bot Agent
Using the auto-update capability to update the Bot Agent to a later version reduces the downtime because each user is not required to log into the Control Room to update the Bot Agent version.
Prerequisites
Ensure that you are logged in to the Control Room as the administrator.
The automatic update of the Bot Agent is based on
the following:
- All user devices are connected to the Control Room.
- The Automation 360 deployment you use.
- The following update settings:
- In Automation 360 v.21 and earlier, the Bot Agent update setting was Auto update by default. Therefore, the Bot Agent was updated automatically when Automation 360 was updated. Starting from Automation 360 v.22, the default setting for the Bot Agent update was Auto update for Cloud and Community Edition, but was optional for On-Premises.
- Starting from Automation 360 v.29, the Bot Agent update was set to manual for On-Premises by default to provide users control on the Bot Agent update. Therefore, if the default setting in the Control Room for updating the Bot Agent is not changed, when updating to Automation 360 v.29 the default value for updating the Bot Agent is set to manual to ensure the Bot Agent version is not updated automatically. To manually update Bot Agent, see Manually update the Bot Agent.
