The Format text action enables you to search for a specific text in an open Pages document and change its formatting (font name, size, or color). Use it to consistently style headings, highlight phrases, or update branding automatically, eliminating the need for manual edits.

Settings

  • Use the Session name field to select one of the following options:
    • Session name: Enter the name of the session used to open the presentation with the Open action.

      (Optional) Click the Insert a value icon to select an existing variable that you have used to store the default session name.

    • Variable: Enter the name of the variable that you have used to store the session name.
  • In the Text to format field, enter the text string that you want to search for and format. Use the following options to refine the search:
    • Match case: Select this option to enable case-sensitivity.
    • Match whole words: Select this option to match a whole word.
  • Select one of the following options to search and format the specified text:
    • Current page: Formats matching text only on the page that is currently active in the session.
    • Specific page(s): Formats matching text only on one or more specific pages. Enter the page number(s) where you want formatting applied.
    • Document: Searches the entire document and formats all matches in all pages
  • Select one of the following options to control how many matches are formatted:
    • All: Formats every occurrence of the search text in the chosen range.
    • First: Formats only the first occurrence found.
    • Last: Formats only the last occurrence found.
  • In the Font name field, specify the name of the font to apply.
  • In the Font size field, specify the font size as a number.
  • In the Font color field, specify a color in hexadecimal format.
    Note: If you do not specify any of these options: Font name, Font size, or Font color, the action will only find the text and assign the search count to the variable, without applying any formatting.
  • In the Assign search count to variable field, create or choose a number variable to store the number of occurrences that were found and formatted.
