Periodic package updates - FAQ
Review the FAQ to understand details on the periodic package updates.
- What are these package updates?
- These updates include enhancements and fixes to packages that we want our customers to get early access to. They are delivered in the form of package-only updates in between Automation 360 releases.
- How often will such package updates be available?
- These package updates will be delivered periodically, in the middle of specific months (dates might vary to avoid weekends or holidays).
- Do I need to prepare anything in advance of receiving these package updates?
- No. These updates do not require a maintenance window for the Control Room.
- How will I know when a new version is made available?
- We will post in-app notifications a few days before the new package versions
are made available.
- For Cloud Control Room instances, package updates will be automatically available.
When a new package is available, it will be downloaded automatically to the Control Room if the package is compatible with the Control Room. For more information, see Automatic package updates for Cloud Control Room.
- For On-Premises
Control Room instances, you can access these packages by enabling the package
update feature.
For more information, see Automatic package updates for On-Premises Control Room.
- For Cloud Control Room instances, package updates will be automatically available.
- Will these package updates also be available in the main Automation 360 releases?
- Yes, these package updates will be made available in
subsequent Automation 360 releases.
When there is an Automation 360 release (Sandbox, On-Premises, or Cloud), any updated Control Room builds post these releases will automatically include the latest package version. These can be packages that are updated periodically between updated builds of a specific Automation 360 release.
See the following image for an example of how periodic package updates are made available in an Automation 360 release:
- I have an On-Premises deployment and I don’t have auto-update enabled for packages. Can I get these package updates?
- Yes, you can manually upload the packages to the Control Room, and choose whether to enable them and set them as the default, or only
enable them but not set them as the default.
- The package files are available for download on this page: Automation 360 package releases (A-People login required).
- For how-to information on uploading the packages to the Control Room, see Add packages to the Control Room.
- Are these packages tested/validated like those available with main releases?
- Customer success and trust continue to be our #1 priority at Automation Anywhere. Our Quality Assurance teams will certify the updated packages for compatibility with the minimum Control Room and Bot Agent versions defined.
- How do I know if these packages are compatible with my Control Room?
- Each package is associated with a minimum Control Room version that it is compatible with. For the minimum compatible Control Room version for each package, see Periodic package updates - summary list.
- If I run into any issues with the new package version, what should I do?
- These package updates are the same as those available with the main releases. So follow the same Support process in case you face any issues.
