Using Capture image by path action
Use the Capture image by path action to extract text from an image on a device or a folder in the Control Room. The extracted text can be assigned as a variable.
Procedure
Follow these steps to use the Capture image by path action:
- In the Actions palette, double-click or drag the Capture image by path action from the OCR package.
-
In the Image path field, select an option:
- Control Room file: Uses a file that is available on the Control Room.
- Desktop file: Uses a file that is available on a device.
- Variable: Uses a file variable to specify the file location.
Note: If you use a high resolution image, text extraction by OCR might be partial or inaccurate. For best results while extracting text from an image using OCR, ensure that you use images with lower resolution (such as 200 dpi or 300 dpi). -
Select the Filter the captured text check box to extract a
specific substring from the captured text.
In the After field, enter the text that precedes your target string. In the Before field, enter the text that follows your target string. For example, if the extracted text is Name: ABC Inc. Location:, and you want to retrieve ABC Inc., you must specify Name: in the After field and Location: in the Before field.
- Select the Trim the captured text check box to remove leading and trailing spaces from the extracted text.
-
Select the Load Profile check box and specify the location
of the ABBYY profile file.
Note: ABBYY FineReader 12.5.15.7 is installed along with Automation 360 and does not require any additional setup.
- Control Room file: Uses a file that is available on the Control Room.
- Desktop file: Uses a file that is available on a device.
- Variable: Uses a file variable to specify the file location.
-
In the Select locale list, select the language of the
device.
Note: Only English, Japanese, and Russian locales are supported. If you select a locale from the Select locale list and also enable Load Profile, the profile setting takes precedence.
- In the Assign value to variable list, select a string variable.
- Click Save.
