Close action in Excel advanced package

The Close action enables you to close the current workbook and provide an option to save changes when closing the file.

Settings

  • Enter the name of the session used to open the workbook with the Open action.
  • (Optional) Clear the Save changes when closing file check box.

This option is enabled by default and will ensure the file is saved before it is closed.

  • (Optional) Select the Throw an exception if saving a read-only file opened in read-write mode check box.

This option is not selected by default. However, when you select this check box, you can control how the Save workbook action behaves when attempting to save changes to a read‑only file.

For example, if you select this check box when the file that you are trying to save is read-only but was opened in read-write mode:
    • Attempting to save or close the workbook with unsaved changes will raise an exception.
    • The Excel file will not be saved.
    • An error message that suggests you to check if the file is already open by another user or to check if you have the edit access is displayed.
Note: If the file that you are trying to save is read-only and opened in the read-only mode, then any attempt to save or close this file with changes will display the existing error message, whether you select the check box or not.
