Import templates

You can import a template with their dependencies from one Control Room to another to make it publicly available to developers of multiple Control Room instances.

Prerequisites

  • Ensure that the following permissions are enabled to import templates:
    • Import bots permission
    • Manage package feature permissions
    • Create folder permission (if required)
    • Check-in to public workspace permission if you are importing to the public workspace.
  • You must have a Bot Creator or Citizen Developer license to import templates either into the private workspace or public workspace.

You can import templates into the public workspace if you have the required permissions, regardless of your license.

  • Ensure that the version of Control Room and templates in the source and target Control Room instances are same for import as well as export.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Control Room.
  2. On the left pane, click Automation.
A list of available templates and automations is displayed.
  3. Click Manage bots > Import.
Note: This option currently applies to both bots and templates.
  4. Browse and select the required zip file that you want to import.
  5. Select the private workspace or public workspace.
  6. If the exported template or file is password-protected, enter the password when prompted.
You can get the password from the user who exported this template or file.
  7. If some of the files that are being imported are already available in your Control Room, select one of the following options.
    • Skip the bot or file (don't import it)
    • Overwrite the bot or file with the imported one
  8. Click the Import bots option.
  9. After the import is complete, based on your source environment, navigate to the corresponding repository (private or public, based on your selection in Step 4) to find and use the imported template.
