Protect workbook action

The Protect workbook action of the Excel advanced package enables you to protect the workbook and its structure using a password.

Settings

  • (Optional) Select the Protect workbook check box.

    Protecting a workbook prevents other users from accessing the content without a password.

    Use the Enter password field to select one of the following options to specify the password you want to use to protect the workbook:
    • Credential: To use a value available in the Credential Vault.

      Click the Pick button to select a credential.

    • Variable: To use a value that is stored as a credential variable.
    • Insecure string: To manually specify the values.

      (Optional) Click the Insert a value icon to insert an existing variable.

  • (Optional) Select the Protect workbook structure check box.

    Protecting the structure of a workbook prevents other users from adding, moving, deleting, hiding, and renaming worksheets within that workbook.

    Use the Enter password field to select one of the following options to specify the password you want to use to protect the workbook:
    • Credential: To use a value available in the Credential Vault.

      Click the Pick button to select a credential.

    • Variable: To use a value that is stored as a credential variable.
    • Insecure string: To manually specify the values.

      (Optional) Click the Insert a value icon to insert an existing variable.

  • Use the Session name field to select one of the following options:
    • Session name: Enter the name of the session used to open the workbook with the Open action..
    • Variable: Enter the session variable that you have used in the Set session variable action or in the parent bot.
