Password protect worksheet action

The Password protect worksheet action of the Excel advanced package enables you to protect a worksheet with a password. You can also specify the operations to restrict on the worksheet.

Settings

  • Double-click or drag the Password protect worksheet action from the Excel advanced package in the Actions palette.
  • Use the Password field to select one of the following options to specify the password you want to use to protect the worksheet:
    • Credential: To use a value available in the Credential Vault.

      Click the Pick button to select a credential.

    • Variable: To use a value that is stored as a credential variable.
    • Insecure string: To manually specify the values.

      (Optional) Click the Insert a value icon to insert an existing variable.

  • (Optional) Select any of the check boxes for the operation that you want to restrict on the worksheet.
    For example, select the Delete row and Delete column check boxes to restrict a user from deleting a row or column from the worksheet.
    Note: The functionality of the Edit objects and Edit scenarios are different from the other options. When you select these options in the Excel advanced package, they are disabled in the Microsoft Excel. For more information, see Worksheet Protect method.
  • Use the Session name field to select one of the following options:
    • Session name: Enter the name of the session used to open the workbook with the Open action.
    • Variable: Enter the session variable that you have used in the Set session variable action or in the parent bot.
