Using Automation credits
- Updated: 2025/09/05
Automation credits are a flexible, volume-based licensing option in Automation Anywhere. They let you use consume multiple services from Document Automation and Automation AI with a single pool of credits at fixed rates.
Automation credits overview
Automation credits are a common consumption license that makes it easier to buy and use Automation Anywhere features. Instead of having different license types, you can use one set of credits for many services at set conversion rates.
There are two types of Automation Credit Licenses:
-
Automation AI Credits – for AI Agents and Automation Anywhere provided models.
-
Document Automation Credits – for processing and extracting documents in Automation Anywhere Cloud.
Key benefits of Automation credits:
- Unified Licensing: Buying is easier with these credits. You can consume multiple services with a single credit pool. New capabilities become available for use as soon as they are released in the product.
- Transparency: You get a clear view of purchased, used, and remaining credits. You'll also get alerts when your credits are almost used up.
- Flexibility: Credits can be used across different Automation Anywhere services. You can see detailed usage in Control Rooms and services.
Accessing Automation credits
- Log in to your Control Room as an admin.
- Navigate to: Administration > Licenses.
- In the Products section, you can select Automation AI Credits or Document Automation Credits.
- The License details page displays:You can view:
- Total purchased: The total number of Automation credits you have bought and added to your license. For example, if your organization purchases 10,000 Automation credits, this number will appear under Total purchased.
- Used (in this Control Room and in other Control Rooms): The number of credits already consumed by automations, broken down into usage in the current Control Room and usage in any connected Control Rooms. For example, if 3,000 credits were consumed on the currently logged in Control Room and 1,500 credits were consumed in another Control Room, the total credits used will display as 4,500.
- Remaining Automation Credits: The number
of unused credits still available for your organization after
subtracting used credits from the total purchased. For example,
if you purchased 10,000 credits and have used 4,500, the
Remaining Automation Credits will
show 5,500.Note: Always monitor the Remaining Automation Credits section to avoid service interruptions. Use the alerts feature to receive notifications when credit balances are low.
- Grace volume/days (if applicable): An extra allowance of
credits and additional days provided by Automation Anywhere beyond your purchased limit, often
to prevent interruptions while you renew or add more credits.
For example, if your license includes a 10% grace volume, and
you run out of your 10,000 credits, you can continue consuming
up to 1,000 additional credits before services stop.Note: Our grace policy is 10% more credits and 15 days to consume the 10% grace volume.
