Suggest next actions, a generative AI based feature, helps accelerate automation development in an organization to achieve a higher level of productivity and build automations easily.

Note: Generative AI models can produce errors and/or misrepresent the information they generate. It is advisable to verify the accuracy, reliability, and completeness of the content generated by the AI model.

As a developer working in the bot editor, whether building a new automation or updating an existing one, you can use Suggest next actions with the Quick add feature that enables you to add required actions quickly and seamlessly from within the editor canvas without needing to drag each action from the Actions palette.

The Suggest next action feature provides real-time suggestions for the next steps when building automations. Based on your business requirements, you (as a developer) can use this feature to accelerate the process of building automations and build them better by using the next best step in your automation.
Note: If role-based access (RBAC) is set at a package level, and you do not have access to a particular package, then Suggest next actions does not display the packages or actions in the suggested list. This feature is only available to customers who are on Cloud Control Room instances.

Benefits of using AI-driven suggested action in the automation workflow

How Suggest next actions works

In the Bot editor, you can quickly add actions directly within the editor based on the current context of your automation flow, making the process intuitive and efficient.

When you create new automations or edit existing ones, you can select the Quick add option. You can search for any action by typing keywords directly in the Quick add after action window. The results update dynamically as you type, helping you quickly locate the desired action. Depending on your preference for building automations, you can use Quick add in both List and Flow views.

You can add the action(s) suggested by a generative AI-based feature, which provides real-time suggestions on the next possible actions in the context of your automation workflow. These suggestions are tailored to your current progress and help you build logical sequences faster. You can choose a set of suggested actions as a group and have the option to select or deselect individual actions before adding them to your workflow. In addition to flow suggestions, you will also receive recommendations for the most used actions from the currently selected package. This allows quick access to relevant actions without extra searching. If the initial suggestions do not meet your needs, you can generate additional suggestions to explore more possibilities.

Let us understand how Suggest next actions works with the help of an example. Consider a scenario where you as a developer want to automate some of the operations performed using Microsoft Excel, that is open an Excel worksheet, read through the rows in the sheet, and update it with calculated values.
  1. In the Bot editor, click Quick add or use the Q keyboard shortcut. The Quick add after action window appears.
  2. Search for Excel in the Quick add after action window. Select Excel advanced > Open.

You will see Excel advanced > Open action will be added to the editor.

  3. Click the Quick add (+) icon, the Quick add after action window appears. You can either search for a new action to be added to the editor directly, or you can add a set of next possible actions generated by the AI model. These suggestions are contextual; that is, they understand the business context based on existing actions to provide meaningful recommendations.
  4. You can either select individual check boxes to add an action in the Bot editor or select all check boxes to add all the recommended actions at once, thereby saving time. You can also click the refresh icon to view alternate set of recommended actions.
  5. Click Add to add the selected action or actions to the automation.
