The Find and replace media action enables you to search for specific images within a Pages document and replace them with new images. This action is useful when updating templates, refreshing branding assets, modifying repeated design elements, or replacing images across multiple pages.

Settings

  • Use the Session name field to select one of the following options:
    • Session name: Enter the name of the session used to open the presentation with the Open action.

      (Optional) Click the Insert a value icon to select an existing variable that you have used to store the default session name.

    • Variable: Enter the name of the variable that you have used to store the session name.
  • In the Media title field, specify the title of the media element to search for in the document.
  • Range: Select one of the following options to search for the specified media:
    • Document: Searches the entire document for the image title.
    • Specific page(s): Searches for the image title from a specific page or a range of pages. Enter a specific page number r range separated by hyphen, for example 1 or 2-5.
  • Replace media: Select one of the following options to select an image you want to replace with:
    • Variable: Enables you to open a file by specifying a file variable.
    • Control Room file: Enables you to open a file from the Control Room.
    • Desktop file: Enables you to open a file from the device. This field also accepts the file path input as a string variable or global value
  • Occurrence: Select which among the following instances of the image you want to replace:
    • All: Replaces every occurrence of the image in the chosen range.
    • First: Replaces only the first occurrence found.
    • Last: Replaces only the last occurrence found.
  • Select the Resize media check box to adjust the size of the replaced image. Specify the Width and Height of the replaced image in centimeters.
  • Select the Maintain aspect ratio check box to ensure that the image keeps its original proportions while resizing.
  • In the Assign search count to variable field, create or specify the Number variable to store the number of matching image elements found during the search.
    Note: If the search count is zero, it means the specified image was not found in the document.
