The Find and replace text action enables you to search for a specific text in an open Pages document and optionally replaces it with new text. You can control where it searches (page or whole document) and which occurrences (all, first, or last) are updated.

Settings

  • Use the Session name field to select one of the following options:
    • Session name: Enter the name of the session used to open the presentation with the Open action.

(Optional) Click the Insert a value icon to select an existing variable that you have used to store the default session name.

    • Variable: Enter the name of the variable that you have used to store the session name.
  • In the Find text field, specify the text you want the action to locate within the document. Use the following options to find the specific text:
    • Match case: Select this option to search for text with the exact capitalization provided. For example, searching Apple will not match apple.
    • Match whole words: Select this option to match exact whole words only. For example, searching page will not match pages.
  • Range: Select one of the following options to search the specified text:
    • Current page: Searches for specified text only on the page that is currently active in the session.
    • Specific page(s): Searches for text only on one or more specific pages. Enter one or more page numbers, using a comma-separated list or range format (for example, 1 or 3,5).
    • Document: Searches the entire Pages document, regardless of page count.
  • Replace text: In the Text to replace field, specify the new text that should replace the matched content.
Note: If the Replace text option is disabled, this action performs a search only; otherwise, it both finds and replaces the text.
  • Occurrence: Select one of the following options to specify which instances of the found text you want to replace:
    • All: Replaces every match found within the chosen range.
    • First: Replaces only the first occurrence found.
    • Last: Replaces only the last occurrence found.
  • In the Assign search count to variable field, specify or create a new Number variable to store the number of occurrences found during the search.
