Using Connect action for SAP

Use the Connect action to establish a connection with a SAP system that you want to use to automate SAP-related tasks. This must be the first action you use to automate an SAP-related task.

Procedure

  1. In the Actions palette, double-click or drag the Connect action from the SAP package.
  2. Enter a name for the session in the Session name field.
  3. Select one of the following options to specify the connection type:
    • Automatic

      No additional information is required to connect to the SAP application. You must be already logged in to SAP application as the system uses the available SAP session to connect to a SAP system.

    • SAP SSO
      In the Name field, enter the value that is displayed in the Name column of the SAP Logon screen.
      Note: While creating a new entry, the value that you have entered in the System Connection Parameters > Description field is displayed under the Name field in the SAP Logon screen.
    • SAP GUI
      Enter the following details:
      • Name: Enter the Connection Name > Description Property Value that is entered in the SAP Logon screen at the time of creating a new connection using System Entry Properties.

        (Optional) Click the Insert a value icon or press 'F2' from the keyboard to select an existing variable.

      • Client: Enter a client identifier value.

        For example, you can specify any number from 0 through 999.

      • User name: Click one of the following tabs:
        • Credential: Enables you to use a value available in the Credential Vault. Click the Pick button to select a credential.
        • Variable: Enables you to use a value that is stored as a credential variable.
        • Insecure string: Enables you to specify the values.
      • Password: Click one of the following tabs:
        • Credential: Enables you to use a value available in the Credential Vault. Click the Pick button to select a credential.
        • Variable: Enables you to use a value that is stored as a credential variable.
        • Insecure string: Enables you to specify the values.
      • Language: Specify the two-letter code for the language set on the SAP server. For example, EN for English.

        (Optional) Click the Insert a value icon or press 'F2' from the keyboard to select an existing variable.

  4. Click Save.
