Using the Open action
Use the Open action to open a specific workbook from a Microsoft 365 Excel file. Ensure that you insert this action at the start of your automation sequence.
Procedure
- Double-click or drag the Open action.

Enter the user session name in the Microsoft 365 user
session field.
Provide the username entering an unencrypted value or click the Insert value icon and select an existing variable.

Enter the session name in the Microsoft 365 Excel session
field.
Use this same session name in subsequent actions to associate them with this workbook.

Use the File Path to select one of the following
options:
- File name including PathUse this option if you know the name of the Microsoft 365 Excel file and the filepath. For example, to perform this action on a file named SalesReport.xlsx, located in the Accounts folder of your OneDrive, enter Documents/OneDrive/Accounts/SalesReport.xlsx.Note: Ensure that the Microsoft Excel file is either available in OneDrive or is moved to one of the folders in OneDrive such as My Files.
- Select existing file variable
Use this option if you want to select an existing variable from the drop-down menu. Optionally, click the Create variable icon if there is no variable available.
- File name including Path
- Optional:
If you want to open a specific worksheet, select the Specific sheet
name check box and enter the name of the worksheet.
If you have stored the name of the worksheet as a variable, click the Insert a value icon to select the variable.
- Optional: Select the Sheet contains header check box if the sheet contains a header row.
- Click Save.
