Find next empty cell action in Microsoft 365 Excel
Use the Find next empty cell action in Microsoft 365 Excel to locate or find the next empty cell in the current worksheet.
Settings
- Enter the name of the session in the Microsoft 365 Excel session field that is used to open the workbook, or if you stored the session name as a variable, click Insert a value icon to select it.
- Use the Traverse by field to select one of the following
options:
- row: Is the default setting and enables a row-wise movement of the cursor across the worksheet while finding the next empty cell.
- column: Select this option if you want the cursor to move across the worksheet column-wise while finding the next empty cell.
- Use the Start from field to select one of the following options:
- active cell: Is the default setting and the currently active cell is considered as the starting point for the search.
- specific cell: Select this option to specify a
cell by entering a value in the Cell address
field.
For example, if you want to start the search for the next empty cell from the third row and fourth column, enter D3 in the Cell address field.
- Click the Assigned to drop-down menu and select an available variable
to assign search output to.
(Optional) Click the Create variable icon if there is no existing variable available.
- Click Save.
