The Get workspace ID by name action enables you to retrieve the unique Slack ID of a workplace entity (such as a channel or user) by specifying its name. This action is helpful because many Slack actions require the unique ID rather than just the name.

Note: You can only retrieve the workspace ID (such as a channel or user ID) for the Slack workspace to which your OAuth connection is authenticated.

Settings

  • Use the Session name field to select one of the following options:
    • Session name: Enter the name of the session used during the Connect action.

      (Optional) Click the Insert a value icon to select an existing variable that you have used to store the default session name.

    • Variable: Enter the name of the variable that you have used to store the Slack session name.
  • Workspace name: Specify the workspace name to search for.
  • Assign workspace ID to a variable: Create or choose a String variable to store the workspace ID.
