Thet Get channel ID by name action enables you to retrieve the unique channel ID of a Slack channel by providing its channel name. You can quickly retrieve the correct channel ID, making Slack automations easier and eliminating the need to manually search for or remember channel IDs.

Note: To retrieve the channel ID of a private Slack channel, ensure that the app you created in the Slack API portal is added to that channel. To do this, navigate to the private channel > View channel details > Integrations, and click Add apps.

Settings

  • Use the Session name field to select one of the following options:
    • Session name: Enter the name of the session used during the Connect action.

      (Optional) Click the Insert a value icon to select an existing variable that you have used to store the default session name.

    • Variable: Enter the name of the variable that you have used to store the Slack session name.
  • Channel Name: Specify the Slack channel name to search for.
  • Assign channel ID to a variable: Create or choose a String variable to store the channel ID.
