Create automation from a template

You can use a template to build an automation. As a Citizen Developer or Professional developer, you can select from prebuilt templates and create new automations based on your automation goal.

Prerequisites

  • This task is performed by a user who has a Bot Creator or Citizen Developer license.
  • The user must have View my bots permission.
  • The user must have Check in and Check out permission on the folders of where the template resides.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Control Room.
  2. Create a new automation from templates.
    1. On the left pane, click Automation.
    2. Click Create new > Task Bot from Template.

      You will see all the available (custom and pre-built) templates in the Create Task Bot from Template window.

      Note: An administrator must first import the pre-built templates so that you can select them from the Create Task Bot from Template window and create automations quickly.
    3. Search for a specific template in one of the following ways: search for the template name or description, or select the template.

    4. Click Continue.
      You can also click the View template icon to open template in the Bot editor and view it.
    5. In the Create Task Bot from Template window, enter the automation name.
    6. Accept the default folder location: \Bots\.
      To change the default automation storage location, click Choose and follow the prompts.
    7. Click Create and edit.
    After entering the automation details, the Bot editor is displayed. The automation structure is added to the canvas, and you can start editing a template.

  3. If required add more actions to the workflow, edit the properties of the existing actions, or delete specific steps.
  4. Click Save.

    Additionally, you can select Save as copy to easily have a copy of an existing automation.
