Search tips and operators

Below are some search tips and tricks to maximize your search efficiency.

Use faceted filter search

Facets are used to narrow down the search results.

refine search

Facets identify different information types in which content is classified. By choosing facets prior to searching, you will only see results that are relevant to your search preference.

As you use facets, results are narrowed down as follows:
  • Facets selected within a group apply the "OR" logic: Display content that is tagged with at least one of these selected facets in this group.
  • Facets selected from different groups apply "AND" logic: Display content that is tagged with at least one selected facet from each of the selected groups. If it is classified with facets from only one of the selected groups, then it is not displayed.

Use quotes

When searching for something specific, use quotes to maximize the desired result.

When you wrap your search parameters in quotes, the entire phrase is used during the search query.

For example, if you search for Control Room with Git the engine will search for content that contains those four words in any order. However, if you search "Control Room with Git" it will search for that phrase exactly as you typed it. This can help locate specific information in context.
