Silent installation error log file

Overview of the logs generated when you encounter an error and are not able to proceed further with silent installation.

The log file setup.log is generated during Enterprise Client or Control Room silent installation.

Working with the setup.log file

The setup.log file is created in the same directory as the response file. The /f2 option enables you to specify an alternative log file location and filename. For example: C:\Setup.exe /s /f2 C:\Setup.log

The result codes and descriptions are listed in the following table:

Result code Description
0 Success
-1 General Error
-2 Invalid Mode
-3 Required data not found in the setup.iss file
-4 Not enough memory available
-5 File does not exist
-6 Cannot write to response file
-7 Unable to write to the log file
-8 Invalid path to the InstallShield Silent response (.iss) file
-9 Not a valid list type (string or number)
-10 Data type is invalid
-11 Unknown error during setup
-12 Dialog boxes are out of order
-51 Cannot create the specified folder
-52 Cannot access the specified file or folder
-53 Invalid option selected

Working with the productname.txt file

The productname.txt file is created in the same directory as setup.log when any of the following errors occur:
  • The required Microsoft .NET Framework is not present to install the Microsoft .NET Framework.
  • Services are unable to start.
