Using Citrix Virtual Apps

The Object cloning command requires specific configuration to capture objects from applications in the Citrix StoreFront on a remote Citrix server. Ensure the required components are installed on the local machine and the remote Citrix server.

Prerequisites

The required components are:

On the Enterprise Client local machine
Step 1 Citrix Receiver
This is a Citrix component, required to communicate from a local machine to a Citrix server.
Install this on every Enterprise Client machine before you install the Enterprise Client.
Step 2 Enterprise Client
Install this on a local machine that is remote to the Citrix server.
Step 3 Automation Anywhere plug-in for Citrix
The Automation Anywhere plug-in for Citrix provides the Citrix driver. This driver communicates with the Citrix server through a named pipe.
  • The Citrix Receiver application must not be running before you install the Automation Anywhere plug-in for Citrix.
  • Automation Anywhere plug-in for Citrix must be installed on every Enterprise Client.
On the Citrix server
Automation Anywhere remote agent for Citrix
The Automation Anywhere remote agent for Citrix running on the Citrix server interprets data received from Automation Anywhere Enterprise and responds appropriately.
Install this on every remote Citrix server.
Citrix Virtual Apps
This allows access to the applications on remote Citrix servers.

The following drawing shows the process flow when the Citrix server is remote to the local Enterprise Client machine.

Create bots using Automation Anywhere remote agent for Citrix

Procedure

  1. Prepare for activities.
    1. Install Citrix Receiver on your local machine.
    2. Install Enterprise Client on your local machine.
    3. Install the Automation Anywhere plug-in for Citrix on your local machine.
    4. Install the Automation Anywhere remote agent for Citrix on the Citrix server.
  2. Login and select Citrix server > Citrix StoreFront > AARemoteAgent. AARemoteAgent is the Citrix name for the Automation Anywhere remote agent for Citrix.
  3. Login to your Enterprise Client machine.

A channel is created between Automation Anywhere remote agent for Citrix and Citrix Receiver, using the Automation Anywhere plug-in for Citrix. This is automatic after login.

  4. From your Enterprise Client or Control Room login, create the bot.
Note: Use the auto login feature to log in to a Citrix environment when it is locked or logged off. To ensure the auto login works, always log off the Citrix Receiver associated with the Citrix Virtual Apps desktop, before you disconnect.
