Review what's new and changed, and the fixes and limitations in Automation Co-Pilot for the v.41 release.

What's new

Enhanced Goal-Based Agent output visibility in Case view

Goal-Based Agent (GBA) output variables are now displayed in the Case view after agent execution completes. Users can review each output variable's name, description (when available), and final value directly within the case. The enhancement supports all output variable types, renders Markdown content for string outputs, and improves readability for large outputs with expandable sections. Additionally, an issue preventing output variable descriptions from appearing in Case view has been resolved.

Enhanced process execution monitoring and navigation for Agent-powered automations

Automation Co-Pilot now provides a more streamlined and informative experience for monitoring process executions, especially those involving Agent-driven workflows. The updated process steps view introduces richer execution details, flexible viewing and filtering options, and improved visibility into parent-child process relationships. Users can quickly identify task status, focus on assigned work, and seamlessly navigate from a parent process to the corresponding Agent execution for deeper insights. Together, these enhancements make it easier to track progress, monitor Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) activities, and troubleshoot complex automation workflows.

What's changed

Improved bulk assignment experience in Co-Pilot web Task list

The Task list experience for Co-Pilot managers and administrators has been streamlined to improve usability and reduce visual clutter. The row selection checkboxes are now hidden by default, allowing all tasks to display consistently without disabled or greyed-out rows. When users choose Edit bulk assignment, the task list enters a dedicated bulk assignment mode where only eligible tasks are displayed for selection. Within bulk assignment mode, selecting a task automatically filters the list to tasks belonging to the same Process and Team, helping users make valid bulk assignments more efficiently. After completing or canceling a bulk assignment, the task list automatically returns to its default view.

Assign multiple tasks

Streamline task management with an Unassigned task filter

Automation Co-Pilot now includes an Unassigned quick filter on the Tasks page, making it easier to find tasks that do not have a contributor assigned. Instead of manually searching for unassigned tasks, users can apply the filter with a single click to instantly view only unassigned work items. The filter works seamlessly with existing filters, enabling users to combine criteria such as task status or date range to quickly locate specific unassigned tasks and streamline workload management.

Fixes

The initial form now displays correctly without duplicating elements when expanding request details after submission.

Previously, in Conversational Assistant, form elements in the initial step were duplicated when users clicked Expand details after a request was created.

Deleting the active thread now immediately resets the chat window to the welcome state with a fresh conversation session, removes stale content, and prevents exposure of internal identifiers through user-facing errors.

Previously, deleting an active conversation thread in Conversational Assistant removed the thread from Chat history but left the chat window open with stale messages and an active input field. Attempting to send a new prompt resulted in a non-user-friendly error exposing the internal conversation ID.

Conversation sessions are now properly isolated, preventing cross-conversation data from appearing in new chats while ensuring the assistant remains synchronized during in-progress requests.

Previously, conversational automation could display responses, notifications, assigned tasks, and request details from a previous conversation in a newly opened chat when users switched conversations before the prior response completed.

The Co-Pilot assistant now correctly manages in-progress conversations and displays the appropriate UI state when starting a new chat, ensuring a consistent user experience with and without active prompts.

Previously, conversational automation could display an inconsistent or improper Welcome state UI when users clicked the New chat button while a response was still in progress.

Users can now create and manage tags independently, including tags that are sub-strings of existing tag names, on the Process setup page.

Previously, Co-Pilot administrator prevented users from creating new tags if the tag name was a sub-string of an existing tag (for example, creating document when document-automation already existed).

Multi-select values now retain the correct list structure, allowing overridden options and picked selections to display properly in Form tasks.

Previously, multi-select drop-down values passed from Approval tasks to Form tasks in V1 processes could render as blank because the selected options were converted from a list to a string format during processing.

RouterLLM now returns clear and appropriate responses, such as indicating when no tasks are available to display.

Previously, conversational automation users could occasionally receive invalid or unclear responses from RouterLLM when no relevant task or data was available.

Completed step details now refresh correctly without causing blank page rendering in Case view.

Previously, refreshing certain completed form steps in Case view could cause the page to display a blank screen, particularly in workflows where a form step immediately followed a Bot or API Task step.

Fallback branches now execute correctly when no conditional branch criteria are met, ensuring workflow execution continues through the appropriate end steps.

Previously, parallel processing workflows with Split/Merge nodes could stop execution when conditional branch inputs were empty, preventing fallback and end steps from running.

Dictionary filtering now correctly evaluates OR conditions and returns all matching key-value pairs in the output.

Previously, Filter tasks using OR (||) conditions on Dictionary currentKey values returned incomplete results by applying only the first matching condition.

PDF files can now be uploaded successfully through file input elements during process execution, similar to other supported file types.

Previously, PDF files could not be uploaded through file input variables during process execution in Co-Pilot workflows, preventing users from attaching PDF documents.

Checkbox selections are now correctly displayed in the Completed approval stage for Approval steps using forms.

Previously, selected check box values were not displayed in the Completed approval stage after approval tasks were finished, limiting visibility into user selections during review and auditing.

Execution mode and Queue Timeout settings are now preserved after process edits, ensuring process configurations remain intact.

Previously, these settings were not retained after editing and saving processes in the Legacy Process Editor, causing errors when reopening the process.

Updated table content and columns are now properly rendered and displayed across Form-Bot-Form process flows in the Process editor.

Previously, updated table column data passed through Form-Bot-Form flows in the Process editor was not displayed correctly in subsequent form steps after bot execution.

Date-based form rules are now evaluated correctly and consistently. Comparisons between date fields now return the expected results, ensuring validation messages and conditional form behavior are triggered accurately based on the configured date criteria.

Previously, forms that used rules to compare date fields could produce incorrect results in certain scenarios.

File storage handling is now improved for long-running processes where expiry is extended from 1 hour to 24 hours, ensuring requests can continue successfully through subsequent workflow steps and reducing the likelihood of requests becoming stuck due to expiry.

Previously, in certain long-running processes that uploaded files to storage, expired files could remain stuck in subsequent bot steps and not progress to the next stage.

Users can successfully copy conversational assistant responses using the copy icon, improving usability and content reuse.

Previously, clicking the copy icon associated with the assistant response did not copy the message content to the clipboard for certain messages.

Business attribute validation now allows only supported characters (alphanumeric characters, underscores _, and hyphens -) in labels. This fix ensures business attributes are displayed correctly on the AARI Requests and Tasks pages and prevents creation of invalid business attributes.

Previously, when business attribute labels contained unsupported special characters, the attributes did not display correctly on the AARI Requests and Tasks pages, resulting in inconsistent behavior.

The Process Editor no longer displays incorrect variable mapping validation errors for supported conversions in public processes. Public and private process validation now behave consistently, allowing users to edit processes without misleading validation messages.

Previously, when opening public processes in the Process Editor (V2), users could see incorrect variable mapping validation errors for certain conversion methods (for example, String:toFile, Number:toString, Number:toList, Table:toString, File:toRepositoryPath, and Date.Any:asAny).

Notification tooltips now consistently display dates in the required MMM DD YYYY format (for example, May 12 2026) across Co-Pilot, Embedded, and Notifications sections, regardless of the selected Control Room language.
Request dates in Activity details now render consistently across Co-Pilot Web and Embedded/Assistant pages. When a non-English locale is selected, the month abbreviation continues to display in English (for example, "Mar" rather than "Mär") to maintain consistency between web and embedded screens.

Previously, month abbreviations could render differently depending on the selected locale.

The step record status is now updated correctly when the request completes, so the request status and step status remain consistent for the same reference ID across both the All Requests view and the individual request (case view).

Previously, when a bot step involving a file upload failed to complete its post-processing (because the storage metadata was not found), the overall request status was correctly set to Success but the underlying step record was not updated and remained in the In Progress state.

Automation Co-Pilot now validates invalid bot variable and form element references more effectively during request execution. Instead of becoming stuck, the request now fails with an appropriate error message, helping users quickly identify the invalid reference and correct the process configuration.

Previously, if a request execution referenced an invalid bot variable or form element in a subsequent step, the request could become stuck without indicating the cause, making it difficult to identify and resolve the issue.

The process view now correctly displays both the Start and End steps for completed requests, even when the process contains only these two steps.

Previously, when a completed Automation Co-Pilot request contained only Start and End steps, the process view displayed only the End step. The Start step was not shown, resulting in an incomplete representation of the executed process.

Users can now successfully upload files using Select file form elements in rendered process forms. The upload flow correctly processes the selected file without displaying validation errors, ensuring uninterrupted form submission.

Previously, uploading a file to a Select file form element could fail with a Missing Required Value: id_oneof error, preventing users from attaching files and completing the process form, particularly in existing processes.

Completed process requests now correctly display the input variables in the Start step, even for processes that contain only Start and End steps. It ensures users can review the request inputs after completion without missing information.

Previously, after a process request was completed, the Start step could appear empty for processes that contained only Start and End steps, preventing users from viewing the input variables used in the request.

The Task details panel now automatically updates the Waiting for AI Agent / Child Process message when an AI Agent or Child process step finishes, displaying a success message if the step completed successfully, or an error message if it failed. This prevents users from seeing stale in-progress information after the step has ended.
The Soft delete action is now consistently displayed for eligible request creators and Automation Co-Pilot business users on the Requests page, regardless of whether they have the Delete request role permission. This ensures users can access the appropriate request management actions based on supported ownership behavior.

Previously, the Soft delete icon did not appear for request creators or Automation Co-Pilot business users unless they were explicitly assigned the Delete request role permission, preventing eligible users from accessing the action.

Selecting Open in new window from a Form or Validator task now correctly opens the associated Form or Validator step along with the related process steps, providing the expected navigation experience.

Previously, selecting Open in new window from a Form or Validator task opened a new chat window instead of opening the associated Form or Validator step with its process context.

Limitations

When searching Request titles using only special characters (for example, @#$%), Automation Co-Pilot might not return matching results even when requests containing those characters exist.

Workaround: To fix this issue, use a combination of special characters and alphanumeric characters, or search using a portion of the request title that contains letters or numbers.

Create a process with a Form task and run the process. Refresh the page on the Form task step, and you will observe that the button position shifts unexpectedly and the Submit button becomes partially hidden from the visible area.
When a process contains two different Form tasks with Radio Button, Checkbox, or Dropdown elements that share the same elements but have different label names, and variables mapping is used to pass data from the first task to the second, the labels in the second Form task change to match those of the first. The labels should remain independent. Data passes correctly, but the second form's labels are unintentionally overwritten at runtime.
When multiple conversation threads are available in Conversational Automation, selecting the first thread in the chat history might not open the conversation. Other conversation threads continue to function as expected.
During bot execution in Desktop Assistant, the In Progress indicator might appear in the upper-right corner of the window instead of being centered.
Note: This is a visual issue only and does not affect bot execution or status reporting.
In Automation Co-Pilot, the Soft delete option might not be displayed for request creators or business users who do not have the Delete request permission, even for requests they created.
When a process form containing a Document viewer is rendered in Automation Co-Pilot, the configured width of the Document viewer might not be applied as designed. In some layouts, the Document viewer and the form fields are displayed with equal width, regardless of the proportions configured in the form designer.

For example, an 80/20 layout might render as 50/50.

In Automation Co-Pilot forms, rules configured on table elements might not execute immediately when the table is populated with data returned from a bot. The rule is evaluated only after the user interacts with the table, even if the configured rule condition is already satisfied.
When a child process or AI Agent step is configured with Hide this task from users and the step completes during runtime, users might see a blank page instead of the next process step.

Workaround: Refresh the browser to continue and view the next process step.

For a process that contains only Start and End steps and has output variables configured with default values, the Start step can display the output variables instead of the input information after the request is completed.
When filtering requests using the Created or Updated columns, the selected date range might display as Invalid date. Additionally, Created and Updated data type is not showing appended value of Date in Request column selection

This is an UI issue only and does not affect filtering, requests are correctly displayed for the selected date range.

When a user views a task assigned to another user in read-only mode, data and element labels from a previous form might appear in a subsequent form even when no variables are mapped between the forms. This issue affects form steps that include a file input.

Workaround: Assign the task to the user who needs to view or complete it.
