Enable logging and analytics for RPA Bots for Excel

Use Azure Application Insights to monitor and improve the performance and usage of your live Excel plug-in applications from your cloud and on-premises environments. Application Insights collects logs, errors, debugging, and analytic information that provide visibility into the health of the application.

Prerequisites

Enable data for analytics and user session information from the HTML server folder located in the OfficePlugins folder. The analytics data is logged and saved to the cloud. Enable data for analytics, logging, file, and console from the Integration Server (relay server) folder for Application Insights monitoring.

Procedure

  1. Enable AppInsights for analytics and user session information from the HTML Server:
    1. From File Explorer, go to the Program Files > Automation Anywhere > OfficePlugins > HtmlServer > OfficePlugin folder.
    2. Open the config.json file.
    3. Enter true for the AppInsightEnabled parameter.
    4. Enter your unique Application Insights numeric key for the AppInsightKey parameter.
    5. Click Save to save your configuration.
  2. Enable AppInsights for cloud analytics, logging, file, and console data from the Integration Server:
    1. From File Explorer, go to the Program Files > Automation Anywhere > OfficePlugins > IntegrationServer > dist folder.
    2. Open the config.json file. Enable AppInsights for the following data types as required:
    OptionAction
    Cloud analytics: Analytics.AppInsights
    1. Enter true for the Enabled parameter.
    2. Enter your unique Application Insights numeric key for the Key parameter.
    Logging to cloud: Logging.AppInsights
    1. Enter true for the Enabled parameter.
    2. Enter your unique Application Insights numeric key for the Key parameter.
    Logging to file: Logging.file Enter true for the Enabled parameter.
    Logging to application console: Logging.console Enter true for the Enabled parameter.
  3. Click Save to save your configuration.
    For the configuration to take effect, you must restart the window service Automation Anywhere RPA Add-on Server for Office plug-in application.
