Using Insert/Delete rows/columns action

Use the Insert/Delete rows/columns action to add or remove rows or columns from the current worksheet or CSV file.

To change the name or value of an Active cell or a Specified cell in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet or a CSV file in a row or a column, see Set cell.

To insert or delete rows or columns in a worksheet, do the following:

Procedure

  1. Double-click or drag the Insert/Delete rows/columns action from the Excel advanced node in the Actions palette.
  2. Select one of the following options:
    • Row operations: if you want to insert or delete rows from the spreadsheet.
      Select one of the following options under Row operations:
      • Insert Row at: to insert a row and specify the location where you want to insert the row in the field.
      • Delete Row(s) at: to delete rows.

        You must specify the row number you want to delete in the field. For example, if you want to delete the tenth row in the worksheet, you must enter 10 in the field. Similarly, if you want to delete the first five rows, you must enter 1:5 in the field.

    • Column operations: if you want to insert or delete columns from the spreadsheet.
      Select one of the following options under Column operations:
      • Insert Column at: to insert a column and specify the location where you want to insert the column in the field.
      • Delete Column(s) at: to delete columns.

        You must specify the address of the column you want to delete in the field. For example, if you want to delete column 'D' in the worksheet, you must enter D in the field. Similarly, if you want to delete the first five columns, you must enter A:E in the field.

    Note: You cannot insert multiple rows or columns in an Excel worksheet. Instead, you can loop this action any number of times in order to add multiple rows or column.
  3. Use the Session name field to select one of the following tabs:
    • Session name: Enter the name of the session used to open the workbook with the Open action.
    • Variable: Enter the Excel advanced session variable from Set session variable action or from the parent bot.
  4. Click Save.
