Add a form with API Task in a process

Add a Form step to the process.

Prerequisites

You must have a Bot Creator license.
You must have created a form with an API Task embedded in it. For more details, see Invoke an API Task in a form.

The following example shows how to call the ZIP code API Task from a form in a process. The latency of calling an API Task is negligible when compared to a Task Bot. You can create a process and attach forms that are specific to your use case.

Note: When you deploy an API Task that is embedded in a form, the API Task must be pre-warmed on Cloud devices.

Procedure

Create a process. For more details, see Create a process automation in Process Composer.
1. From your local machine, log in to your Control Room as a Bot Creator.
2. From the left pane, click Automation, and then click Create new > Process.
3. On the Create process page, enter a name for the new process. For example, ZIP code process.
  Processes are saved in the \Bots\ folder. Click Browse to change the default folder. You can create the process in the same folder where the API Task and form resides.
4. Click Create & edit.
Click Start to add an initial form with an API Task. The options to define the Start appears on the right side of the screen.
1. Browse and Select initial data form. For this example, select the ZIP code Form that you previously created in Invoke an API Task in a form.
2. In the Request title field, enter any text. For example: ZIP code details request.
Click Save.
Click Run to run the process. In our example, the running process invokes the form containing an API Task.
A form appears. Enter a Zip Code to retrieve the Place and State.

The Place and State are retrieved from the previously described form.

Next steps

You can then pass these values to an API Task in the process that will store these values as a record.
